It is a Consolidated Model 39 or Convair 104 depending on time frames, also having the designation R2Y also called a Liberator-Liner. This was the first operated by Convair along with American Airlines and according to Putnam's General Dynamics Aircraft and their Predecessors by John Wegg, was the first to fly experimental freight service as NX30039 on 12 July, 1944.

I'm sure someone has more details but that's all I can offer at the moment as it has been a long week here in Midland getting ready for AIRSHO. All the best.

Randy

Thank you, Gentlemen.

The picture will be in the Salinas Airshow Program and we wanted to identify the aircraft for the caption.
