Warbird Information Exchange

I've been working on a new website called http://warbirdmap.com. My goal of this site is for people who are traveling to easily find museum that have warbirds or warbird related exhibits that are nearby.

After I finish a little more work on the museum stuff I'm going to start work on a warbird database that will be work with the map.

Anyways check it out and tell me what you think good or bad.

If you want to help me out with my site please join and add a few museums.

Honestly, I think that is the coolest thing I have seen using Google Maps embedded like that!

I think if you contact Mike, you two should merge the two using his data!

Just my two pennies, however, dont let anyone stop you in getting this going yourself. When I started my site, many people ( not on WIX ) complained about ( not another warbird database ) my site. But I get 48,000 hits per month and I just love doing it as a hobby.

Have fun with it and dont let anyone stomp your idea!

Totally not a knock on Ryan, but I am just speaking from experience of others out in the world "armyairforces.com" that left a bad taste in my mouth when I started my site.

While I can't fault your interest, Mike Henniger's site uses google maps as well, and is searchable. It's a very effective website. I think you have a steep hill to climb to beat what he's worked years to accomplish. Not that you shouldn't try, but you might want to try and make your site offer something different which complements Mike's site, rather than duplicating its efforts. Best of luck.

You webpage was just brought to my attention. I applaude your efforts. I must say though, you are in for a ton of work. I had a similar idea to yours about 3+ years ago, and it has evolved to what I call the Locator...

I integrated Google maps about a year ago, and recently created a trip planning feature which was made possible by Google Maps, so I know the fun you are having as I have been having much fun with the project and meeting many people around the world and making friends on-line. It is so much fun the Locator has grown to over 4000 locations world wide and it may yet grow another 1000 to 2000 locations before that expansion starts to plateau.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Nice map... I just joined... but when I added the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum it put it under "denver"... not the proper location.
I don't know why it did that... but is there a way for us to edit it?
