My twelve year olds first P-51 ride was today. He wanted to go on his birthday but the weather didn't cooperate on the 3rd.

He didn't want to have me do any aerobatics but maybe next time. Big experience for a guy who just turned 12. He liked the pass down the runway the most. Now 310 mph is normal for him.

That's awesome Mike! I got my first warbird ride at the age of 12 too and it got me this far! Get kids into warbirds at a young age and we'll be sure to "Keep 'em Flying" long after we're in the rocking chairs!

I never got a Mustang ride when I turned 12. Lucky young man.

Ah well...

I'll survive.

Good on ya', Mike...you're still a hero for at least one more year.

Must be something about that age. When my oldest turned 12 we roadtripped out to Maine to haul Cornell remains back to Wisconsin. Good times.

A very hearty congratulations to your son.

I know he realizes that he has joined the ranks of a very few select people his age that had the opportunity to ride in a Mustang.

Tell him to please spread the good word, and help our next generations of young people to continue the appreciation and support of Warbirds.

Now that is awesome. Congrats. I had my first warbird ride in a T-6 when I was 15. Hooked ever since.

P51Mstg, that is so great that you son has got to the point of getting the Cub. Great airplane.

Congratulations. I remember that smile quite well. I flew my first 51 at 19. The smile was my own reflected back at me in my windshield bow mirror during the climb out after takeoff. :-)

Any particular reason 12 is the magic number? Just curious!

I was 10 when I got my P-51 ride..................believe it or not. Then and still today do I think it was a big deal. Seem to be just another airplane to me. Now when I was 16 and I got to ride in a TBM, in formation with another, up the beach from miami to pompano, now THAT was a ride!!!

Hi Mr mgeorge51,

I am going to turn twelve soon, can I have a ride too? I am big for my age and still have my baby tattoo's, but I'm sure I can fit in the back of that neato airplane!

Very cool dude! Way to bring em up!
