The CenTex Wing would like to get a drop tank for the P-39. Many years ago, Sandy Sansing and I drove to Harlingen and picked up a tank for the 39, but it wasn't the proper one. Jim Benham "modified" it with a hammer and bondo, so that the nosegear would clear it. This tank was larger than needed, and drooped at the front, sort of like a Kate's torpedo, creating so much drag that the increased fuel burn offset having extra fuel.

It's my understanding that we could use a 75 gallon tank, the same as the P-51 would use. Naturally a donated tank would be ideal. <batting eyes>

Thanks in advance!
