You have to go to the radio operator first. Then open his log book, and click start mission. Then you will here the pilots going through preflight. I had this same problem man. It is a pretty fun game though

when i get to the options page i click training mission , i see a plane in flight, yet i have no control over anything. when i do a historical mission i seem to have some control but it seems that it has some very complex settings as in partial keyboard control and partial joystick control. are there any instructions anywhere??? thanks. :?:

Yeah, I usually went right into to playing a campaign. I know that once you switch into a crew man's position, you have to take it off of automatic to manual so that you can control that station. I don't remember there being a key lookup in the game, just withthe book.

I have had no trouble operating the game when it comes to going from auto to manual or jumping from position to position. I also have learned to use that Norden bomb site. The problems I have experienced concern running the game in Squadron Commander mode. This mode allows the player to sit back and watch and let the computer do all of the work.

The problems I have encountered: sometimes the computer will crash if I access the navigator's map to check location. Also, when the mission to the GM Auto Plant in France is run, the airplanes (when on AI) sometimes refuse to exit the runway after landing. I have had to go to manual and actually taxi the B-17s off the runway. On the same mission, sometimes the last B-17 will not allow itself to be shut down, and the mission will not conclude. I solved it by using time warp. And then just when I thought that the game would count the mission, the thing crashed. I have run the GM mission several times in Squadron Commander mode, but the game will not allow the mission to be completed. I had to start all over and not pick the GM Auto Plant Mission in France. The game has some bugs, but it can be enjoyed.
