I think the faded paint and staining gives her a lot of character. :D

I Think this Marauder would look better in a scheme of one the Midway B-26s.

I am with you on that one 100%. Is she still airworthy, when was the last time she was flown?

IIRC The aircraft was painted that way intentionally.

Personally, I've always liked it.

I wish I could have gotten a look inside. I've seen pictures of when it was first painted and it was NOT weathered the way it is now. It has the patina of something that sat in strong sunlight for a very long time. I have no idea when it was flown last. There appears to be a slight amount of corrosion on the lower wing just behind the wing leading edge where the paint has flaked off completely. I'm glad it is inside. It sure is an awesome looking machine. It could have no paint on it at all and I would still like it. I wonder why the USAAC buzz number is not on the tail? The short wing Marauder is one fine looking aircraft. If someone (hi Mr. Weeks) gave me the choice of the new looking B-25 or the B-26 I would take the 26 every time.

It did fly in 1999 at the first Gathering of Mustangs. Don't know after that.

It's wearing the markings it had as-found; as I recall, it was on its delivery flight to Alaska when it went down January 15, 1942. It was around this time that the USAAF started having the serial on the tail (or in some cases the rear fuselage, as on the oft-seen belly landing film of 40-1363), but this one hadn't gotten it yet.

Not true, we took it to Sun n Fun but not the gathering.

Last flight was 5/29/99 when we dropped the ashes of a WWII B-26 crew member.

Thank you Curtis.John and I had fun painting that bird on the ramp at Chino back in 1990.We mixed the paint in 5 gallon buckets and added the bags of flatting agent as we went. I wanted more of an olive drab color but the paint shop would not mess with it anymore.I forget how many 5 gallons buckets we used on it. She is so sweet on the inside.Bone stock military from nose to tail.

That pic brings back memories! I saw her fly when she stopped in at DTO in 99... This plane should be flying, not sitting.

I misspoke, we were there for the Gathering but did see it at SnF, and also visited Weeks place that weekend. So the questiion remains was that the last time you all flew it?

Mr. Weeks seemed to have a great time with the Marauder Men.
