The Flying Heritage Collection has registered the former CAF P-38J c/n 42-104088 (N38LL) known as Scatterbrain Kid II on August 4th, 2008.

Sometimes trying to keep track of who's plane is what, reminds me of Abbott & Costello's Who's on First. And in most cases...I Don't Know.

Well, that's good to hear. I guess the question I have is why is it registered in Seattle? Will it be moved out there and restored, or is that just a business for registering warbirds?

Another one of those Garys' gonna be mad (he was probably there and watched it happen) but all in all it doesn't look that bad given todays value of a flying P-38. I don't know how it fits in with the USAF vs. CAF lawsuit, but it was part of the P-82 trade deal at one time. The most difficult part would be to get rid of that ugly ass paint job. Thats one that should have been on the ugly paint job thread.

I would imagine putting work in on that Lightning could go smoothly and generate some interest. Unfortauntely, I am way up North in S/E PA. Were there a CAF squad close enough and the Kid transfered there, I would happily jump on board. I also could not agree with you more on that paint job. While it served its purpose at the time, something perhaps a bit more toned down would work.

Because FHC is located in Seattle.

Flying Heritage Collection = Paul Allen, who is based in Seattle.
