Searching for Original CAF Livery -- No Joy

Sat Aug 16, 2008 6:13 pm

I'm looking for that thread with loads of photos of early CAF paint schemes, can someone please point me to it? Every time I try to use the search function it seems to just rearrange all the current threads a little bit and throw 'em back at me. I always did suck at computer searches, just ain't my thing I guess. Whatever, THANKS for any assistance... :D

I thought we posted more of the original scheme on this thread, but the postcard is the only one I can find. Scroll down a little over halfway.

I'll try to find the threads, too, Pogo. I know they're in here somewhere!

The CAF House Livery thread begun by Sasquatch. Probably use "Livery" or "yayhoos" as your search word.
I know "yayhoos" works. Sorry, I forgot how to cut and paste it... watching the Aussie girls giving US a flogging at the Olympics..Good Luck!

Yessir, I found that thread and enjoyed it immensely. It was half the problem, in fact ... I got big time sidetracked looking it over. The Olympics weren't helping either. The good news, I suppose, is that I've never had so many great excuses for sucking at searching. 8)

Here is the one airnutz was referring to, right where he said it would be!

This is the one I was thinking of as well, but my memory doesn't hold a candle to yours, airnutz!

Mmmm..be careful 2AF..my memory is very sucky in recent years...and not getting better.

If you can remember a "unique keyword" it helps alot in locating an old discussion. I really enjoyed the
House Livery thread and was sorry to see the photos peter-out. I wonder what forgotten photos haven't come
to light yet which are tucked away in the early CAF'er attics or albums?? It'd be really cool to see some more
stuff from CAF, late 50's and very early 60's. If computers had come along 10 or 15 years earlier, I imagine
we'd be seeing some really rare stuff? I shudder to think of the stuff being tossed out by unknowing family members when old-timers(really, of any history) pass on. :?

The recent thread on Scatterbrain Kid II was awsome, as well!! It was amazing to sit and watch most of the
principals in that event, over the course of days and sharing sometimes diverging "facts"...come to an apparently
factual understanding of that event for all involved..simply awsome stuff!!! :D

Yeah, busy night..Obama and McCain forum on CNN and the Olympics on the same night! What was the Pastor thinking???

Re-discovering the House Livery thread got me to thinking about "uniformity". Maybe ALL CAF airplanes should go to the original red, white, and blue scheme, then there wouldn't be such a flap about the new sticker.   Spanner, order a sh!tload of white paint :!:

C'mon Gary! A little bit of water color paint and a scratched nose to match that in the photo and you're set, but it does not have to be permanent.

The A-26 which flew with the CAF Bomb Wing in the early years was not owned by the CAF, even though early photos show Connie Edwards as the sponsor. Connie owned it.

Sometime in the mid-70's, John Stokes bought an A-26 from El Salvador. It came to him in lizzard camo. Claude Vaughn, Ray Harper, and I began stripping the paint off it and uncovered the original CAF Bomb Wing markings! We uncovered the rebel flag in the middle of the Star and Bar (where the star should have been) first, then started looking at other places. We could make out the checkerboard markings on the tail, under the camo, and then the milkyway!
