Sad to report the loss of a Grumman Goose:

Pacific Coastal Airlines operate several of these aircraft and have an outstanding safety record.

Our prayers are with the families.

I saw this news story too. It's quite shocking, really. As much as the terrain in BC is very unforgiving, flying around here has traditionally been done very safely. None-the-less, accidents happen.

It is interesting to think that on Friday I was at Vancouver Airport with James Kightly (WIX's own JDK) and we actually saw two Grumman Goose (Geese?). One of them was a Pacific Coastal Airlines airplane. In the back of my mind I wonder if the plane we saw was the one involved in the accident.

I am sorry to hear there were lives lost. My condolences go out to the family and friends of the passengers. Even at my young age I have already had one friend die in a plane crash and I don't look forward to the next.

As a side note, as you read this James and his wife Bev are on an airplane back home to Australia. On Friday we went to see Bob Jens' Spitfire and Mosquito restoration, and today met at Granville Island for coffee. It was really great to meet James in person after getting to know him on WIX.
