There are/were two Lockheeds of the L-18 family...

Aerial Visuals - Airframe Dossier - Lockheed PV-1 Ventura, s/n 33327 USN, c/r N234P

...previously parked in New Orleans at this location...

The question on my mind is... Where are they now? Have any of you seen them?

I have in my notes, that buno 33327 was transferred to RCAF as 2198 in June 1943. Is this true?
Baugher has that bird being sold in Sept 22, 2008. Dunno where.

Yes, BuNo. 33327 served in the RCAF. I understand it went out to California for restoration and display on the former El Toro site.

I moved from down there in 2008, so this may be a bit dated.

IIRC, the PV-1 was still parked on the ramp down there when I left. It had a two tone light-and-dark-blue paint scheme with national markings.

KNEW had the ever living garbage kicked out of it by Katrina; a 4-foot storm surge came up and flipped over planes, tore up buildings, and leveled most of the frangible stuff on the airfield (signs, lights, etc). They had a list of NOTAMs about two feet long afterward.

Hopefully somebody else can shed some more recent light on it.

That is correct. It arrived in Irvine CA on 9Aug08.

I'm down there now. We have the A-4, F-4, and a T2 being used in a movie shot as background. I believe the aircraft in question belonged to Pat Taylor. I haven't seen them lying around as I believe they were moved out as part of the Katrina cleanup.

There is still sand everywhere left over from the surge.
