CT Corsair Lift Successful!!!!!!! UPDATED!!!!

Sun May 04, 2008 9:35 pm

Here's the story from the Connecticut Post newspaper with photos, but the press still manages to screw the information up. If it was only the paint that was exfoiliating, we'd be in "hog heaven"!!!

Winds were 13-15 knots until we positioned the crane, then they increased to 20 knots.
I canceled the lift as the wind was too much and directly on the tail.

Jerry

Ground cover at Midway! Wow this is a unique artifact.

I hope the winds are more cooperative for your next attempt. :)

Not to mention some guy called Boone Goudon....!!!! You think they'd have got the name right, being as he was such a famous pilot.

Richard

PS. Jerry, does this mean that the corsair will now not be coming down for restoration?

Sorry guys,
I've been in Illinois and Kansas since May 5th, so I haven't checked in on this thread.
Yes, that's the photo in my avatar,
and Richard, the lift will be rescheduled, but it may not be for a month or so due to scheduling conflicts.
Blue skies,
Jerry

PS: Looks like Mike at Mid West Aero has got another Oshkosh Grand Champion contender on his hands!!!
