Oh wow... that's hot.... I want to see one on floats (getting wet). They weren't really built for wheels.

That subject line had me going for a minute then realized you were talking about an L-20!

Years ago I was up in Belingham Washington standing on the ramp when I saw a large high wing tail dragger with a round engine rolling out on the runway. Since it was at a distance I couldn't see it that well but I thought to myself that it looked like a well cared for Stinson. As it taxied in but still a ways away it turned head on and I saw it did not have the trademark Stinson wing so then I thought Howard but as it drew closer still I could see the windshield was not right. I must have stared at it for a minute before it struck me that it was a Beaver. I don't think I had ever seen a Beaver not on floats before and since I was in Washington where there a gazillion float Beavers running around it just didn't occur to me. I guess you get used to seeing some aircraft set up a certain way.

They'll last a lot longer and give you fewer maint. headaches if you keep them off floats...

Of course, a Beaver is usually just one big maint. head-ache; at annual time anyway

Last May I drove around in that area, holidays. nice memories.
Am sure Neil Aird would like to see that pic included on his website www.dhc-2.com, the best source for deHavilland Beaver images and history...

Wheels vs. floats-if you are a sport fisherman (or fisherwoman) in Washington State, be aware that state Fish & Game operate several Beavers with really big binoc's in them. Around western Washingon and Puget Sound one is white with olive sides and on floats and one is white wth dark blue sides and is on wheels, and they just sort of cruise around keeping an eye on Salmon fisheries
