After a very long search for the perfect light for a project i am working on, i came across a "Grimes A -2430 Model Nav light".

i am looking for any info on what types of planes these were installed on originally as i am sure i will be asked about it. i figure that it kind of gives a bit of respect back to the history and the engineers of that era if i can be able to tell people about it.

The most info i got was they were used on many aircraft from the 30's-50's but that wasn't what i was looking for.

if i understood more about message boards i would pop a pic of it in here. i don't quite understand how to insert the image.

Thanks for any help,

We have something similar to that on the Howard DGA project, but the housing is mounted in the leading edge of the wing tip.

Hey crazywelder72,
There is a company in Paso Robles, CA, Avlight Aviation, that specializes in the repair and sales of Grimes units. You might call and ask them for specifics. They are located on the Paso Robles Airport.

i already had contacted Avlite the other week and i thought they would have been the perfect resource however i got another pretty vague answer to my question.

i was surprised that they didn't have some type of cross reference chart as to what that would match directly up to.

Thanks Myles
