Warbird Information Exchange

Hello Everyone, This will probably have the same reception as inviting the neighbors over for a slide show. Just in case anyone is interested I took some pictures at the RAF Museum London with an extremely cheap (20.00 bucks from Walmart) digi camera at the very nice museum in London and thought I'd post it. I have heard it mentioned how dark the NMUSAF is, the NMUSAF is positively the center of solar activity compared to parts of the RAF museum.
I do have a question, what is the significance of the 3 headed dog on the mosquito's tail?

In any case, please enjoy, I certainly had a grand time and urge anyone in London to head there. Very friendly Holiday Inn in Golders Green.

Thanks for the photos. Did you get any news on the most recent restorations or plans for the future of the musuem (i.e. - expansions, acquisitions, etc.)?

It is the badge of the relevant RAF squadron and if you look at the attached link it will explain the origins of the dog within the badge and also gives a brief history of the unit. Hope this is of interest. Glad you likes one of our museums over here.

been there many times, is all the german iron still there? I went once and they had a car show featuring american 60's cars. old caddies thunderbirds etc, all in really rough shape but with very proud owners!

Been there four times. The Sunderland exhibit wasn't open once.
I'll bet the Sunderland wasn't open when you were there either.

Hendon is a great museum with real cool exhibits. Indeed lots of German iron there.

I noticed on your picture of the pilon replicas that there is a high rise building popping up near by ! That changes the scenery

Were you able to visit the Graham White factory ? When I went, it was under works of some kind and closed to the public. So I have no idea what's in there

Aaaah, the Sunderland ! Impressive display indeed !

Thanks for sharing your photos. The place sure has changed since I was there last. Which was like 20 years ago. The first time I was there about 30 years ago, Hendon was still a small little village on the outskirts of London. When I went back 10 years later London had grown up and swallowed it.

particularly enjoyed the Tempest MkV. Is it real or a mock up? If real, I did not know one existed! May have to thank you AGAIN.

What an improvement since I was there the first time in 1984. Me and the Chief Master Sgt. I was with were sitting in the snack bar and we heard a Merlin engine fly low over us, we ran to the door and realized it was a tape recording played over the "Tannoy" (PA system). I remember getting off the "tube" and the great model shop right there... Great memories.
