The Boston/Havoc has always been one of my favorites. Those pics remind my of the time my pickup broke down in -20 degree weather in Nebraska trying to get back to Michigan for Christmas...

Were the underwing pylons a group derived solution for a special type of mission? I've never seen A-20's with underwing pylons, and especially not ones that look so home growed-

I'm pretty sure the pylons were factory standard on the later A-20s, although the extra bracing may be a field mod. I've seen pics of them being used for bombs and drop tanks (possibly napalm.) The A-20G at the NMUSAF has smoke generators hung from the wings.
