The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force opened its MH-53M Pave Low IV helicopter exhibit on July 7. The museum's MH-53M (S/N 68-10357) participated in the mission to rescue American prisoners of war from the Son Tay prison camp near Hanoi, North Vietnam, in 1970. During its 38 years of service, it flew in many more combat engagements including Operations DESERT STORM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Its final combat mission took place in Iraq on March 28, 2008.

Wow..she's had quite a career! She'll make a nice companion to the Hanoi Taxi.

Nice to see such an historic airframe in the museum. I look forward to seeing it when I make my annual pilgrimage to the museum.

We'll be making a stop at NMUSAF on the way to the IPMS National Convention in Virginia Beach next month. In fact, it's gonna be a warbird-packed trip. The convention includes a barbeque at the Fighter Factory. Then we're spending a few days in D.C., with visits to NASM and Udvar-Hazy. Then on the trip home we're planning to stop at the MAPS Air Museum in Akron, which just happens to be hosting a stop by the Collings boys that weekend. Looks like I'll have to lay in a stock of extra batteries for my camera... 8)

Holy Crap Steve...sure hope you don't get tired of looking at planes before your trip is over  Sounds like a fantastic way to spend a week though!

Sorta back on track...any word on the Swoose move yet Chris?
