I'm building a web site for nostalgia activities, http://goodolddaysandmore.googlepages.com/home , and have a section already on biplane rides. I'd like to do a section on warbird rides also, what are some good websites to link to for this? I know about Collings Foundation, and EAA's B-17, but there must be a number of T-6 and other warbird ride operations out there. Can you buy rides in some of the Planes of Fame aircraft?

Ideas for trains, boats, etc. also welcome....

We've just added experience flights on the Collings Foundation UH-1E in Houston. Call the Foundation for scheduling details.

We are also offering flight training in the F-4 and TA-4. It;s more involved of course but you won't walk away disappointed.

technically, you don't buy rides in POF aircraft - the are member sponsored flights. You have the option of flying along if you sponsor a flight. Our most popular is the P51, but they're also available in several other aircraft (P-40, T6). You can call the museum giftshop for the latest aircraft available (909-597-3722). It depends on aircraft and pilot availability as well as weather.

If you want to "fly" rather than "ride" an SNJ-6, check out Warbird Adventures in Kissimmee, FL.

At the Olympic Flight Museum you can't buy a ride, but you can buy a membership at a price that would entitle you to a free ride in a museum aircraft. 8)

Different membership levels entitle different aircraft.
P-51D, T-6, Tora Zero, TBM, UH-1H, HH-1K, TAH-1P Cobra, L-39 or BAC Strikemaster.

Here is the website.

I offer Warbird rides, scenic flights and full flight instruction in this C-45H (Twin Beech or Beech 18 ) from Stockton Field (WWII name) in Northern California SCK.

Image

Awesome photo taken by Ernie Viscupic

There are six seats in the Beech which includes the co pilot’s seat so you can bring a bunch of your friends along to share the expense.

On the instruction flights we can fly around Alcatraz and downtown San Francisco or head up into the Sierras or Tahoe, pretty much wherever you might want to go.

Come along for a fun flight or try and tame the beast.

You can find more information at our main web page at

http://www.twinbeech.com

Just click on the Warbird Rides button on the left or you can go directly to the Warbird Ride page at:

All donations are tax deductible as the Stockton Field Aviation Museum is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Tell a friend as the Harpoon needs all the help she can get.

Thank you!

I'm assuming that you are using more than one Beech 18 for your rides. Unless there is some interesting combination of parts, that's not a C-45H in the picture. It does appear that the horizontal and verticals may be C-45, but the rest sure looks like a G Model airframe to me. What's the story?
I got my Multi-eng rating in a C18S in 1968 and have owned the same C-45J for the last twenty one years, so I am pretty familiar.

Roger that 29driver, that airframe was not in the US military, short stacks, external intake scoop, tall cabin, single rudder trim tab, square wing tips, are some of the differences between a C-45 and a civillian E thru H model 18.

Looks like it may have been used as a jump plane with the external handles on the fuselage and a freighter (cargo door installation) in a former life too.
