Help! What was the name of the film in which Dennis Hopper played the part of an informer in the drug trade (no, he didn't work for the CIA...) who flew a C-123 Boxcar into (big surprise) Mexico to pick up drugs? And, what became of the 123?

The name of the movie was "Doublecrossed" and was a HBO film that was done by Hopper in 1991 and based on the true story of Medellin cartel pilot turned DEA informant Barry Seal.

Also, according to Paul Freeman, the Dorado Aux Aerodrome in Puerto Rico was used for the airfield scenes in the movie and they crashed a Beech 18 for the movie onto the airfield.

Ole '674 is alive and well in Titusville, FL! She's currently under restro back to flight status, once complete she'll tour the circuit as a flying museum dedicated to Air America and it's predecessor, Civil Air Transport. We have her open for display during the Tico airshow each year if you want to swing by. They'll be lots of "interesting" stuff on display inside the fuselage next March

Speaking of Barry Seal, '674 was actually one of the Contra C-123's...kind of ironic she would later star in a movie about him!

We filmed scenes outside of tallichets hangar at Chino back in 91 with this 123.We had bales of hay wrapped in black plastic bags and when we were not filming we would wait for planes to taxi by and start throwing bales in the back of the plane which just shocked the hell out of the passers by.It was a good laugh for which we would be arrested today Im affraid. My how things have changed.
