If you could own a P-47 Thunderbolt...

...how would you paint it?

If I had one it would be in the colors of "Eileen" of the 78th FG, 84th FS

I helped with tthe restoration of the P-47 owned by Butch in the markings of David Schillings aircraft "Hairless Joe" That is the one that I would want.

Man, it would have to be a bare-metal razorback P-47D-22 just like "Silver Lady" HV-Z_bar first assigned to Les Smith of the 61st FS, 56th FG and known within the squadron as the "luckiest" ship in the 56th. Cool thing is if I had the cash I could go with either the standard greenhouse canopy or a Malcolm Hood and be accurate.

It would be polished to a blinding luster...

Since aircraft that saw active service with other nations air forces -many of them, for many more years than they served with the USAAF, or the allies for example- are simply not represented in the warbird color schemes, and since this is a " a what if " question, these would be the paint schemes I would consider:

Hi Guys,

Personally for my money if I could own a Jug....I would have it painted like the scheme prior to Hairless Joe....Zemke's Wolfpack. Barring that I would have to say I would like I would have to go with Col. Gabreski's mount, or Robert S. Johnson's mount. Though I forget the names and designation that both carried.
