A46-30 is the sole original/intact example, now in the RAAF Museum
all others have been, or are being rebuilt from composite sources of NOS, recovered parts or new build wings etc
the following 10 are listed in the WIX registry
A46-3 is a bare forward fuselage frame from one of the production prototypes, at the SA Aviation Museum
A46-25 is a restored fuselage about to be mounted on a centre-section and its wheels to return onto display at the Australian National Aviation Museum
A46-57 listed on the WIX registry as being with Greg Batts but understood to be a stored static cockpit section now with the Darwin Museum.
A46-77, unrestored fuselage stored with Greg Batts?
A46-90, listed as a privately owned airworthy restoration by Ian Baker?, understood to be the former Malcolm Thomson unrestored fuselage and misc parts?
A46-122 is restored / flying with Temora VH-MHR, restored by Matt Denning.
A46-124 is a restored cockpit section in the Darwin Aviation Museum
A46-129 listed on WIC as a stored cockpit section with the Camden Museum? (now with Chris Jamesson?)
A46-147 lrestored fuselage under static restoration privately in Melb
Nick Knight
A46-206 - erroneously listed in WIX registry as being with Aust National Aviation Museum (actually A46-25 above)
Is actually the former Zuccoli flying boomerang VH-BOM rebuilt in US by Sanders, now with Oakey Army Museum as restored static
(there was also a "replica" Boomerang built by Sanders in US at same time, remains flying in USA, recently advertised for sale)
Another 13 Boomerang projects, or remains not listed in the WIX registry are:
A46-10, forward fuselage frame with Matt Denning.
A46-54 is on its wheels in Brisbane for airworthy restoration privately owned by Greg Batts as VH-MHB, likely to be the next Boomerang to return to the air.
A46-55 restored fuselage on centre-section for static display, privately owned by Ron Lee
A46-67 forward fuselage with Chris Jamesson (for static restoration?)
A46-101 - remains with D Baxter Sydney?
A46-117 - under airworthy restoration in South Aust - privately owned?
A46-142 - under airworthy> restoration in Victoria privately by Don Brown
A46-146 - Extensive remains with Kermit Weeks USA
A46-158 - Cockpit section with Arthur Griffiths?
A46-165, static restored fuselage now with Kermit Weeks USA for airworthy restoration.
A46-166 - remains with Don Brown to support A46-142 restoration
A46-174 - remains with Kermit Weeks to support restoration of A46-165
A46-249 - under long term static rebuild by privately in Melbourne by MR "Boomerangs" Dick Hourigan
In the late 1970's you could buy a bare Wirraway or Boomerang fuselage frame for $2 at Tocumwal NSW, I bought one for $2, but never went back to pick it up - smiles
Many of the projects above will remain cockpit sections or static display fuselage outcomes, but it is expected a further 4 will fly in Australia eventually, and 1 in the USA, with at least 6 futher static aircraft displays up on their undercarriage.
26 survivors or potential outcomes, Not a bad return from near extinction of 1 known survivor.
regards
Mark Pilkington
