Warbird Information Exchange

In the mid 1950-early 1960s, the Indoesnian Air Force used TU-16 badgers bombers.
These bombers were able to fly across Australian airspace undetected and not intercerpted at their own will.

A mate of mine who flew in the RAAF in 1960-80s, says a TNU navigaotor he met when on a exhange posting to Indoesnia, said the TNU nav..."had seen central australia outback more time than (the RAAF pilot) had living in Australia..."

Seems it was a lack of high altitude fighters and a radar blind spot that allowed the TNU to fly over Australia. The bomber flew over Darwin and were impossible to shoot down too.

This is much like the USAF flying over Russia in the early 1950s too..

Makes one wonder what else is out there people in some countries are not aware of from the Cold war era...
