A few months back I started a project on roadside aircraft and aircraft on poles. I had seen a few pictures posted here and I was wondering if anyone had any roadside aircraft pictures that they would not mind to let me use. Naturally I would give credit to the photos. More or less I am looking to compile a list of aircraft with the locations of these roadside aircraft. Any help I would be appreciative.

Thanks,
Nathan

Nathan, in a week, I will be going on a big roadtrip, and I have a few stops plan to photo planes on poles. I will let you use anything I get.

Nathan,

I've got a few photos from the seventies and eighties that aren't the best quality, but if you want them I'd be glad to dig for them. It's mostly T-33s and F-84Fs.

Spitfires in Burma, eh?

That's awesome. You say those pictures were from a few years ago?

Very interest.... :)

Cheers,

David

If you have time to wait for the page to load, here is a list of mounted (pole and otherwise) aircraft in the USA...
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php ... pe=mounted
...WARNING, this page will take a while to load.

Also, I have recently discovered this project is already well underway in a Google Earth Community thread. The amount of data I pulled from there is incredible.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

PeterA,
Great picture!!
I see the ladder... Did they have a tour group or something? Did they let you climb up?

Mike can you post the link for Google Earth Community thread?

wow! :D Thanks fella's. You guys are too good to me. I haven't yet descided what I am going to do with them but I might just compile them on photobucket in a new album and then see where it goes from there. There are so many aircraft out there on poles and on roadsides. Mike H. has done a great job with his website. More for the warbird registry I say. 8)

So sure email me at warhawknm@yahoo.com. If sending copies I will give you my home address via email. What I find I'll try and make posts about.

cheers,
Nathan and thanks very much!

There are a couple of A-7's from the Ia ANG on poles around the city here, I'll see if I can get some pics in the next couple of weeks for you.

You didn't get too many 'tour groups' in Burma 20 years ago.

The British Defence Attache arranged access to the aircraft and the Burmese military provided men and equipment to make an inspection of the cockpit and firewall to identify the aircraft. That is Mk IX PV270 with Seafire XV SR462 to the rear. Both now recovered to the west.

Sorry...
I wasn't thinking... Burma = "Union of Myanmar"...
If we can't take food in to help people in distress... then most likely there will not be a tour group (now or in the last 20 years).
My mistake.
