How about to start topic with images and art of machines directly faced to the US forces? here you are first one from me- Bulgarian fighter Dewoitine D.520. Most of thisd type in Bulgarian service burn in fight against US bomber raid...

I think it was a case of undercarriage down, ariel up and vice-versa. At least I hope they were linked or the ground crews would be replacing a lot of them :shock:

To return to the original thread, how about the Romanian I.A.R-80. After service on the Eastern front, the remaining aircraft were withdrawn for homeland defence. They claimed several B-24's while flying alongside Bf-109's during Operation Tidal Wave against Ploesti on August 1st 1943.
They were in action several more times against U.S. bombers and fighters attacking Romanian oil targets before being phased out to 109's. Perhaps you have a profile of one of these Mgawa?
