OMG, I can't believe you didn't put the "bite" date in the title. Someone might have heard of someone who once flew the Beaufort. You could have made someone's "heart stop". How insensitive! We even have a sticky on this topic (words not to use in your subject line)...blah, blah, blah.

Well, since there are currently no flying Beauforts in the world, that should be obvious that he wasn't talking about a current crash. :D

What a nice, sensitive group of individuals we have here. So worried about their own feelings and those of others that they forget the feelings of the poor airplane. You think it wanted to be destroyed while sitting on the ground? :) :roll:

Jack,
I was wondering what other information you had with this photo?, date of photo or bombing attack?

Also I was wondering if the source had further information on the identity of the aircraft?

From the photo's provided and the remains I wonder if the aircraft is a RAAF Bristol built Beaufighter rather than a Beaufort?

The elements that make me think that are:
Straight tailplane (same as Beaufort but diferent to DAP built Beaufighter)
Beaufighter? type prop hub?
Apparant Beaufighter cowling nose ring?
rear fuselage near fin appears more rounded, as per Beaufighter?
(Beaufort is more "flat sided" - see pic)

There was no info with the photo other than it was the result of a bombing raid on Jackson Drome.
Sorry I'm not any help here.
