Warbird Information Exchange

I was proud today to give a ride today to this very nice young man, a friend of my grand daughter, who will be going to the Air Force Academy in June.
His desire is to fly the F22. His grades and apptitude tests are way above average.
He does understand and appreciate that he got to wiggle the stick of an airplane that warriors before him in a war much different than we are in now also faced the unknown in their military life.
He laughed when I told him that his primary trainer will stall at speeds higher than the PT23's maximum speed.
May he remember today when he is my age.

My sister's step-son came down to Salem a few years ago for a Stearman ride with a friend of mine for his first ever airplane ride. I also got him a T-6 ride in a 4-ship formation and a hop with us in the B-25. A few short years later and he's a 1Lt in the Marines flying Ospreys

This is why I own warbirds. The shame of it is, fewer and fewer young people are being introduced to warbirds. It's always inspirational to me to see some young persons eyes go wide the first time they get a ride.

Trey Carroll comes to mind. Young people are the reason that there may be warbirds flying in the future.

Maybe he won't be a pilot but hopefully he will be involved in some way.
My son ,Benjamin aged 9 ,in the cockpit of one of our DC3's, on November 11 last year,just before it took off to do drop some poppies ,that we had loaded, on to a rememberance day parade.

I'm 17 and am still looking forward to my first warbird ride.... Where is the best place in upstate NY to procure such a thing?

Here's sister's step-son (my step-nephew??) on his first solo!!! He was tops in his flight class and picked Ospreys.
