Flug Werk 190 Question or any new build for that matter

Wed May 07, 2008 8:47 pm

So how are folks referencing these? Something like Flug Werk 190D-9 or something like that? I can't say I feel right referring to it as an FW-190D-9 or what ever model it is made up as.

Also has Flug Werk assigned some type of serial number to these? I'm not sure I what the confusion when "Black 12" getting repainted as "White 10" or something.

I'm not sure if this topic has been covered yet, sorry if it has. I could not find it fast enough for my MTV generation attention span.

Fw = Focke Wulf.

FW = Flug Werke.

For the MTV generation, unable to grapple with the formality of capital letters, this may be a step too far. The literate, however...

They are also referred to as A-8/N or D-9/N
N= Nachbau, or new build (literally 'after-build')

Quite a number of the new-build A-models have been given spurious identities so they can be registered in the US as genuine Focke-Wulfs.

No different from quite a few of the P-51s currently flying around, I suppose! :shock:

?????
