Black Widow has been on her main gear since April of 05. Have they finished the Tail Boom's? How about engines and Prop's? I check their Web sight weekly, but no updates in quite some time.

I received a news letter a few weeks back and it had a nice write up on recent work to the P-61. (More recent than the website). If I remember I'll check when I get home.

According to the Feb.08 news letter...

The LH Vertical fin is complete, the RH should be done in March. One engine is being hung in order to rough in the lines, hoses, etc. The engine still needs to be OH. One cowl Ring assembly will be installed.

And my favorite part... There is a very nice write up about how the P-61 is NOT for sale 8) They mention several impressive offers that they turned down. No way, no how. They are committed to the Widow and its supporters. :)

How much of the finished aicraft will be original material? Will she be mostly a "reverse engineered" reproduction?

I'm not complaining or critisizing..just curious. Seeing a Black Widow restored at all is great, and seeing her in the air will be nothing short of incredible!

Looks like a lot of original material there. I'm assuming the rough (non-shiny), media blasted pieces are original. You can also see the repairs to the tailboom bulkheads, so obviously those aren't new.

I'm blaspheming, but that bird sure would look nice polished!

I can't wait to see her in the air. Can you guys imagine going to an airshow, walking out to the flight line, and seeing a P-61 sitting out there?

I vaguely remember reading in one of the newsletters a few years ago that it will be about 80-85% original when finished.
