to good to be true??? a piece of fabric from a japanese licensed built german me -163 komet??? any provinence or documentation to back up the origin of the artifact?? without it, it isn't worth squat!!!! i could make canvas look like that easily. how much is 3000 yen in yankee dollars??? i had a piece of goldbeater's cloth from the graf zeppelin, bought at a garage sale, paid 3 bucks for it, re-sold it for $495.00, but it was autographed by clara adams, the "pioneer passenger" of aviation history, thus it had provinence.

Hi Tom,
Item obtained with permission from Ed Maloney...from his J8M1, the sole such plane in existance...serial 403 (the #3 prototype)....so get out your yanki dolla and get thee hence to your International Monies Exchange to get them into Yen, if you got a yen for the fabric.

Wow! Oz,
You are correct. The crashed remains of the test plane fuselage still exist, and formed the basis of the replica...gosh, the way folks take a data plate and ...well.

Thanks for the "Mark I" memory!

The Ed Maloney J8M1 is actually from two J8Ms...serial 403 and 504 (the 3rd and 4th prototypes), with the bulk from the 403.
