Provenance + Spitfires

Sat Apr 26, 2008 9:36 am

The latest Provenance Aircraft Sales ad features Spitfires and states that they have recently aquired several Spitfire restoration projects. These will be restored to 100% stock. I'm guessing they bought the holdings of one of the English shops, but does anyone know where they aquired them from?

The two on their site are IX MH603 that was last seen hanging in a Colorado shop and XIV NH799 from Downunder.

I don't know if this figures in at all but the late Joe Vaughn claimed to own a shop that was restoring several Spitfires on the Isle of Wight. ( Not sure of spelling).
Seemed hard to believe his stories but I never found the need to call him on anything.

I know little about the location of Spitfires but maybe someone can fill in some details on his claim.

I looked at the Provenance site and am curious about something. I know P.O.R. (Price On Request), but what does P.O.A. mean :?:

Mudge the curious :?

Mudge, it's "Price On Application/Asking"

Otherwise known as 'If you have to ask, you can't afford it!'

I have no idea who Joe Vaughn is, but as stated Airframe Assemblies is restoring Spitfires and parts on the Isle of Wright. I believe that ML119, TE517, RM694, RM927 & TE184 are under restoration with them. LZ842 may still be there as well.
