The HAMM here in Tyler, TX had their grand opening today and the aircraft turn out was pretty good. The museum is doing a really good job of getting the word out to the public about the museum and there was quite a crowd that showed up. Here are some of the pictures I took today showing all of the participating aircraft.





























The T-6's were both giving rides


The Mig 17 made a few passes in front of the crowd




And of course the Collings Foundation guys were giving rides in the Huey. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet Rick or any of the other guys.

Yep, Carl's got one of the best looking T-6's out there.

You may not have met RickH, but you got him in your pictures. He is the one in the blue jeans talking to the pilot in your second photo of the Huey.

That's Mike Robinson sitting in the door rearranging the seat belts. I probably walked right by you a dozen times, Connery. We had a very successful event and we appreciated the opportunity to fly at the Grand opening. We wound up flying ten flights yesterday afternoon with over 60 people flying with us. No one came off without a big grin on their faces.

Our next event is May 17-18 at Palestine with the Texas State RR. They are doing a Salute to Veterans weekend complete with reenactors from the Civil War to Viet Nam. The Huey will be flying experience flights and the RR is putting together a WWII armament train complete with tanks and sandbagged antiaircraft positions on the flatcars. Should be fun !

Did you get any shots of the static display birds there from the museum? I know that they have some of the old Pate Museum birds there and I'd love to see what they look like now with some TLC applied to them!

Someone also asked me about the status of the PBY. After I left the Museum I stopped by the restoration hanger and saw that the PBY was still just a stripped down bare fuselage.
