This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I just left the TV a couple of minutes ago. Channel 11's new copter was circling Stevens County Airport. Saw an L-4 on its back with a broken right wing and flattened vertical tail. Could see what looked like the P-38 in Nelson's hangar, but the chopper cam didn't stay fixed on that hangar long enough to see if the P-38 was damaged. Part of the roof and much of the rear wall of the hangar were knocked down, but the main structure is intact and did not collapse, and most of the roof is in place, as are the hangar doors and remaining three walls. Did not see any other damaged warbirds on the field, but did see a bunch of civilian aircraft ranging from Cessnas to a Queen Air that had been tossed around, and some were crushed in flattened hangars.
TV reports three people taken to a hospital from a damaged house with non-life-threatening injuries, but no other reports of injuries yet. Let's hope it stays that way.
Best wishes to everyone in Breckenridge tonight.

I hope that little house at the end of the clip is one that was unoccupied as you leave the airport. That looks like Carolyn's Cub on its back. Hope every person is ok.

I called Nelson's shop a few minutes ago and got one of his helpers who I didn't know personally. He said that everyone at the airport was OK but looking at the video posted above, it is clear that the main shop hangar suffered damage to the back or West side. Hopefully he was correct that no one was injured there but the last view of a house by the road destroyed doesn't look good.
Nelson and his family are old friends and I wish them the best and hope that the damage isn't too bad but only time will tell, I'm afraid. I suggest we all wait for things to calm down there before too much more speculation and wait for some definitive news. My 2 cents.

I talked with Steve Dickey about 6pm local and the P-38 has only only minor damage but all of the buildings have major. Howard's Duke was turned side ways in the hangar and Steve's truck was pushed about 50'. The bad side was some of the workers there homes and trailers were destroyed. My prayers go out to them tonight....

Howard just talked to a mutual freind. He's down at the Freidkin Ranch with the Bearcat. He says everything on the airport is damaged but didn't think anything was totalled.

Ironic that the aircraft being safe on the ground was just being mentioned on another thread today...
Sure hope everyone's ok. Hope that L-4 can be fixed!
