On the 7th of April, 1944, Treviso in Italy was heavily bombed, I understand by US, maybe British aircraft.

I've looked for references to this online, but have found almost no information. Does anyone have more?

What was the specific objective?

Was it achieved?

Which unit/s undertook the raid?

As ever, help appreciated.

James, can't give you the unit for that day.

My father-in-law SSGT Ed Potocki's unit 483rd BG [H] with B-17's out of Sterparone [Foggia] bombed Treviso on 10/10/1944 with 28 aircraft ..no losses or turn-backs. The target is listed as marshalling yards...

FRIDAY, 7 APRIL 1944

STRATEGIC OPERATIONS (Fifteenth Air Force):
In Italy, 400+ B-17s and B-24s attack marshalling yards; the B-17s bomb
Treviso; the B-24s hit Mestre and Bologna; almost 100 P-38s provide escort;
P-47s fly a sweep over the Gorizia- Udine area; the bombers and fighters claim
almost 20 aircraft shot down. :D
