/A Gathering of Warbirds/

/Saturday, 10 may 2008 marks the first unofficial Gathering of
Warbirds at South County Airport (E16) in San Martin, California
hosted by Pacific Warbirds. /

/BOMBERS: The centerpiece of the //Gathering //will be the
appearance of three B-25 Mitchell medium bombers lined up wing
tip-to-wing tip on the ramp to view and tour. This group of B-25s
represents one the largest assembly of B-25s on any single flight
line outside of the annual Oshkosh Airventure show! Pacific Warbirds
is very excited to host Executive Sweet and Heavenly Body, both
fully restored B-25Js. They will join Pacific Warbirds’ unrestored
B-25J (TB-25N) "Seven Victor", a combat veteran of the Mediterranean
Theater of Operations (MTO) in the closing days of WWII; and one of
the last B-25’s retired from the U.S. Air Force inventory. /

/FIGHTERS & TRAINERS: In addition, Eddie Andrini will bring his two
restored YAK 9U Barbarossa and Red October to the Gathering, two
BET-13 Trainers will be on-hand, Ellsworth Getchell//’s AT6 and if
scheduling permits, his Hawker Mk.11 Sea Fury. Pacific Warbirds
P51-D Mustang will be on display and we have invited numerous other
P-51 owners to come and display their aircraft. It looks like there
will be around 10 Warbirds on the flight line and some very
interesting civilian aircraft, such as the de Havilland D.H.88 Comet
“Grosvenor House” replica flown by Robin Reid.

/ /The Gathering of Warbirds is taking place in conjunction with the
annual Wings of History Museum’s Open House. In addition to
aircraft, Pacific Warbirds is will display surviving artifacts from
the P-38 Lightening “Glacier Girl” and other aviation and WWII items./

/Schedule: Tentatively, Executive Sweet and Heavenly Body will
arrive and make a formation fly-by around 0930 accompanied by as
many of the other Warbirds as possible. They will then land and be
parked in the static display area for everyone to tour and enjoy
throughout the day. Around 1600 hours (4PM), the aircraft will
depart and make a final fly-by providing a great photo-op to end the
day./
/ /
/Loads of Things to See and Do: Besides the warbirds, there are
plenty of things to see and do at the Wings of History Museum Open
House. including antique auto and farm equipment displays, a pancake
breakfast at 0800 (8AM) , Tri-Tip BBQ lunch from 1130-1500
(11:30AM-3:00PM), and lots of great historical aircraft exhibits in
the Museum. /
/Come enjoy this unofficial Gathering of Warbirds and the Wings of
History Open House on Saturday, May 10th./
