Interesting visitor to Olympia

Got a few poor shots of this guy on the ramp two days ago. This is the best of the bunch. I had to borrow a camera and zoom way in to even get this. Normally I wouldn't try this hard for a military Citation but something strange caught my eye right away.

Anyone else think something is odd with this aircraft.

Yup, Its a WWII Citation, probably a really early model...........

NAH!! It's post August of 43, blue surrounds but no red bar, this particular one operates with the 4269th underground blimp repair squadron based at Harrumph AFB just outside of Ompah, PA.

I've got some pix of a USN METROLINER with some wierd stuff stuck on it that I took @ KPAE, it's in overall medium flat gray.

Sidebar question for Ryan- how come I have to re-log in about every fourth time? Does the server need a minor adjustment with a size 13 and a BFH? (thats Big Flourescent Hammer) :wink:

the door is not stock citation.... it almost looks learjet-ish with an extra window in it. :idea:

That is a Citation 560. If the cargo door splits in the middle then it is a Cessna cargo door. If it hinges on the side like the standard door, then it is our cargo door STC.

The tail says Marimar (I've got no clue what they were doing up this way). Unfortunately it doesn't show up in any of the photos.

The main thing that caught my eye was the star and bar arrangement.

It's hard to see in this photo, but on the bars, it is white where the red should be, and kind of silver where the white should be.

I thought it was kind of unique and figured at least some of you would think the same. At first glance, I thought of the throw back uniform you sometimes see in sports these days. At least until I saw the silver.

Oh, I think I remember seeing the door swing as a normal door would.

Nothing odd about this plane at all. It is one of the latest models of at least 20 Cessna UC-35D Encores (Citation Ultra V model 560) that are operated by the US Marine Corp and Navy. The bird you photographed as you mentioned is from MCAS Miramar, San Diego.
