Bolingbroke to MGM Studios

Wed Mar 26, 2008 2:05 pm

In searching through some old RCAF records, I find that Bolingbroke 710 was sold to MGM Studios in September 1944. Would anybody know if they ever used it in a movie, or what became of the aircraft?

Bill,

My gut feeling is it was used for Son of Lassie. The date and studio match.

I have been tempted to buy the DVD, but just can't pull the trigger...it is a Lassie movie after all.

What a great film clip! The squadron codes are obviously fake - wrong font, wrong place, and the RCAF dropped three letter codes in 1942. The airport looks like Patricia Bay, BC, but could be anywhere on the west coast. The Venturas look like ex-USN.

Has anybody sprung for the whole video? Any reviews?

Bill,

It was filmed at Pat Bay.
