Might anyone know of a currently operating JET warbird that has the STec-55 autopilot installation? Names & phone/email numbers PM'd to me would be highly appreciated.
I am considering installing the STec-55 in the T-33 and need to obtain autopilot gain/servo settings to make the installation quicker.
Mucho Thx,
VL

Vlado,
If I remember correctly, Chris Peatridge from CJAA had an autopilot on his T-33. If not, try Larry Green from CJAA.

Thank you both.

Don't know if he has one, but you might also try Chris Rounds (
chris@redknightairshows.com). He has been doing airshows in a T-33 for many years.

We installed an Stec-60 in the Pinto Jet- never did get the pitch gain setting worked out.

A long time ago...
At Unlimited Aircraft we installed an STEC autopilot in an F-86. Tried forever to get the gains set right, couldn't work it out. So a real bright tech, Ed W., installed remote gain controls in the cockpit, so that the pilot could adjust them in flight. Worked like a charm. Here is the funny part...the pilot (Hoover) was working on it and talking to us on the radio while he is trying to get the gains adjusted. I guess it was going through some pretty wild pitch excursions. He says, in his characteristic drawl, that it is a pretty rough ride. "This would make a normal pilot sick". Just loved that one. What a cool guy...
