missing C 47

Hi all

A friend of mine , a former pilot with 36 Squadron in PNG in WW2, was telling me about a C47 that went missing. The air craft in question was a C 47; A 65 - 78 left Lae in PNG in Oct. 1942 to drop supplies to Weewack but never returned. As far as my friend knows, this air craft was never found. There were 4 POB at the time, pilot, co-pilot, navigator and radio operator. My question being where one would go to find out if this air craft has actually been found ? Is there a register that lists found air craft ? Any clues as to where to look would be appreciated. Thank you.

Doubt its 78 as 78 is at RAAF Museum in practically airworthy condition ..well it was last time I saw her :D

Thanks for that info . My friend ( now 85 years old ) was not completely sure which air craft went missing; I will have to get him to look up the details;

See the ADF serials website, series 2 (as above) Looks like the wrong number, a bit of searching may throw the right a/c up from the description.
