Note that the man standing in the foreground is actually two men! When you realize that and then look at the individual men standing closer to the B-36, its size becomes even more impressive!

The first time I ever saw a B-17 and B-29 was at CAF Rebel Field in Harlingen, Tex. in 1972 in a similar pose. It would be cool to see this shot with a 17 and a 24 included.

In the B-29 and B-36 shot I noted the B-36 has the large single tire! Must be the XB-36!

God...I love the B-36.

The XB-36 was also the only 36 with the flush cockpit (is that politically incorrect?) glazing, all others except the 'nookaler' (to quote old beady eyes) one which had a smaller, more modern style canopy area.

When the XB was built only Carswell and Andrews had ramps thick enough to support all that weight being on such a small contact area. They took it to some other Air Force base and it punched through the ramp, thats one reason they went to the 4 wheel setup...'scuse me, can I borrow every jack you have?'
