Nice looking F84 and it looks like it is still in the correct paint scheme from service? Looks like it needs a little tlc with that missing panel near the cockpit and some corrosion in spots.

Man, I hate seeing airplanes like that! I sure would love to see a flying F-84 though.

I don't know anything about paint schemes Peter...I do know that the fellas taking care of this bird should try to do a better job! The filth and mold growing on it in places is just so sad for a once proud warrior :(

I don't think this one would ever be a candidate for restoration to flying as there is far too much corrosion...and it still belongs to the NMUSAF :roll:

it doest look too bad, granted the missing cockpit panel and the pockmarks of Bird stuff dont help. The corrosion is a concern though.

I will probably get flamed for this, but do any of you fellas have any info on this plane? I don't know if the tail number is correct or not. Just interested in it's history.

By the way, should I try to figure out how to downsize my pix? If I am taking up too much room, I will try to figure out how to downsize the few I have before posting. Personally, I like it when you fellas post the big pictures...much greater detail.

Thought Mr Hawthorne might like to see this one. Anyone around that area of Indiana know if there are any plans to do some clean-up on this old girl? The F-84 at Grissom Air Museum looks a whole lot better than this one!

Can't help you on the plane ID, but as for the photo size, Photobucket automatically resizes pics, and has a setting on the uploader that allows you to select from several sizes. For posting in forums, I usually go with 800x600..that almost exactly covers the width of the screen (on my monitor anyway.)

There is definitely a lot of corriosion on that tail section. I can see the bubbling under the paint.

No flamming going on here, just a few helpful tips. When looking for locations of aircraft and serial information you may wish to try the Locator search engine...

I will do one better and send you directly to the dossier for this F-84's location...

...if you are logged in you will see the serial number info. If not just click the Sign In button, sign-in, and you will be returned to the Dossier where you can then read the serial number. All dossiers work like this. There is a dossier for each location, and so-far the Locator documents 5,600 locations world wide. In the near-future people will be able to upload photos so others can view the aircraft at the various locations via the dossiers.

It is also worth noting the credits page...

...which recognizes the various sources of information for the Locator. For example it is highly likely I got this F-84's serial info from Andy Marden's book.
