I love that photo. Here is another request. When I sent away to the National Archives for information on the SOC and SON, they sent me a photo of an SON crashing through a wave, spray everywhere, on a takeoff run. Any chance of finding it on line? FYI to other wixers, the SON was the Naval Aircraft Factory-built version of the Curtiss SOC. Here is a photo of my original fuel gauges from the SOC/SON. I am looking for Curtiss SOC parts if anybody has them.

Dan,
I am just expanding my focus to all single engine WWII seaplanes. I have acquired some SOC parts, blueprints, and factory manufacturing photos. I like the SOC for several reasons. First, it weighs 4400 lbs- about what a BT-13 does. Second, it is powered by a 1340- easy support. Third, the wings fold, and it would fit next to the L-5 in an Executive I hangar at Martin State Airport (I've measured it). Fourth, fuselage is welded steel tubing and wings are built up aluminum ribs. Lastly, by the time you get your TBY done, you will be prepared to help me build it.... What do you say?
