Hello gentlemen. Please forgive a dumb Brit for probably breaching forum etiquette by not introducing myself earlier. But you know how low key we are over here! I lurked on this amazing site for quite a while before joining, in the hope that I might one day be able to provide a bit of useful input. My day (and night) job is an air traffic controller at Liverpool John Lennon Airport but I am also an aviation historian from way back. My mother and I were nearly taken out by a crashing B-24 of the 445th BG in Oct 44, had it flown another mile. Back in 1997, I helped organise a fine memorial to its crew near the site. My special interest is the 495th Fighter Training Group at Atcham, near Shrewsbury in NW England. Almost 50 young Americans died in accidents in OTU training from here and I am slowly building up a Roll of Honor for local display, as well as writing a history of the base. One other thing, I am proud to say that I was on first name terms with the great and much missed Roger Freeman.

Welcome Dave, & thank you for your dedicated work toward keeping the memory of our fallen airman alive. My father flew out of Rivenhall England with the 363rd Fighter Group.

Hi Dave,

welcome to WIX. I look forward to hearing your input. I'm just a starting out aviation historian myself :)

Cheers,

David
