This thread is dedicated to a certain CAF fuel truck gal (along with many other duties I'm sure) who has shown passion, commitment and leadership to her organization. She has shown by her dedication a fine example of someone all of us would want as a fellow member of any organization. I'm quite convinced the Commemorative Air Force is fortunate to have you aboard and are very proud of you and your commitment to the mission.

Thx Drew, as you know ... Ya can't fly em if you don't fuel em! An unappreciated endeavor for sure.

Yeah great stuff as always Mark.
There is a whole lot more work to these things, than there is flying to be had.

Amen, a lot of folks forget that it's the crew chief 8) and ground maintenance laborers :D :drinkers: that let the pilots fly their planes and trust 'em to not fold, spindle, nor mutilate their aircraft pop2

Anyone have a wartime (GMC?) fuel truck as seen above?
They seem to have been pretty standardized in both chassis and fuel tank and pump unit.

Ground crew pictures are always interesting. Great collection as usual, Mark.

I can't help but think of all the effort it took to refine all that gas and ship it halfway around the world. Staggering.

Can't help but to post more refueling photos because the demand is off the charts for riveting drama portrayed in these type of photos
.. and sorry for no information, just too darn lazy today ... :axe:
More to come for those who are sitting on the edge of their seats.

Fantastic photo set!

The P-51 must be one of very few Allied fighters that you can re-fuel with both feet on the ground!

Superb set of photos Mark.

I am very curious about this one, this Thunderbolt seems to be wearing what looks like RNZAF markings! I assume it's an RAF roundel painted over a factory-applied US star and bar? And yet the groundcrew chap seems to be in American garb.
