Sweet looking museum. I love the Spitfire prototype replica and the EE Lightning.

Glad to see that they've grown quite a bit since I was there in the late 1990s. Unfortunately Tangmere just really isn't on the way to anything in particular to make it a convenient stop for foreign tourists. Arundel Castle is nearby as I recall which is really fantastic.

The Meteor F.4 and Hunter F.3 are perhaps the most important aircraft there, both being world air speed record holders. It is a wonderful museum, with lots of fascinating archeological remains from WWII too. Douglas Bader flew from this aerodrome, as did many other famous RAF pilots.

took the train all the way from London to go to an aero jumble there right after they opened the doors. I think the only plane they had complete was the meteor at the time. they were at the end of the old field next to the access road and we hiked down to the old control tower. I actually felt the hair prickle on my neck as I climbed around the tower...it had a feeling of history to it, my wife even felt it!
there was a really nice pub close by with a spitfire theme and a great sign outside. Ill have to see if I can find the old slides I took while there.
thanks for rejuvenating the memory! Chichester cathedral was also interesting as it was built on an old roman villa and you can see some of the exposed mosaic floor tiles they discovered during some renovation.
