Surprisingly, the rescue at the end of
Keep 'em Flying was based on an actual incident - there was an article in
Reader's Digest back in the mid-70s that said it happened before the war and involved a Navy pilot in an SOC scout plane rescuing a parachutist dangling from an R2D or R4D.
And on the outtakes - they left out this exchange between A & C at the end of (I believe)
Africa Screams:
ABBOTT: "Well, We've come a long way - remember the old Palace Theatre?"
COSTELLO: "The old hole ain't the same."
ABBOTT: "Remember the dressing rooms at the old Palace Theatre?"
COSTELLO: "The old hole ain't the same."
ABBOTT: "And remember Gypsy Rose Lee?"
COSTELLO: "The old hole ain't the same!"
(

Remember these guys started out in burlesque.)
