Lt Brennen was in VMF-122 and KIA in June 1943 in a F4U-1.

That's an amazing collection. I imagine you could make a movie based on all the information there.

Belongs in a museum, really.

Cheers,

David

Check out the return address on this image... How many guys with the last name of Bourgeois do you reckon there were in Marine aviation? I'm betting that's from Henry Bourgeois who flew with the Black Sheep...

Very nice collection. I particularly like the Stinson 10 in RCAF markings.

Some unusual Harvard paint schemes there, too. It would be great if someone could do proper scans of those pics and place them in the public domain.

Did anyone read the letter from the USMC? Apparently the photo of Lt Brennan looking serious in the cockpit ran in the local paper AFTER he was reported missing. His mother, understandably, contact the USMC asking for clarification, and the letter is the USMC's response.

Wow...that had to have been rough on her.

I read it too. Can you imagine her hopes when she first saw the envelope? I can almost imagine what she must have felt when she read that letter. Something similar happened to my family, but not related to war. I won't discuss this here, but your world really falls apart when you realize you’re not having a nightmare.
