Harry Whereatt's Hurricane?

Hi everyone,

I was just checking out the warbird registry in search of the second most numerous piston fighter from WWII. I am pretty sure it's the Spitfire with an apparent clan of 45 airworthy aircraft.

While looking I came across the profile of the Hawker Hurricane, RCAF5447 owned by Harry Whereatt as of 2000 when it had its first flight since restoration.

Does anybody have any updates for Harry and his plane? Does he still own it and is it still actively flown? Are there any recent pictures?

Harry sold it to Vintage wings of Canada and it is being restored to fly.

Very interesting. Wasn't it already flying though? I suppose it had been sitting a while since it's first flight in 2000. Nice to hear she'll be flying again.

The have the jig in house for the reconstruction of the wing box centre section. I believe they have started on that task. They have also accepted that it is unlikely to be complete in 2008.

Here is a photo I took of the aircraft in December. The center section is in a custom-designed jig, built locally. It will be some time before the aircraft will be flying again. Some corrosion was found on the spars, which is why the jig was needed.
