i'm working on an article on brigadier general robert j. holbury who flew f-5 aerial recon missions in the recon version of the p-38 in support of the d-day operation. holbury went on to a stellar career commanding groom lake / area 51 with the inception of the a-12 / sr 71 at it's infancy. i conferred with the holbury children, & they have loaned me his pics for my research & enhancement for the article. 1 pic has holbury standing in front of an f-5 with nose art of a boxer dog named tony something, but the 2nd part of the name is cut off at the border of the pic. he flew with either the 10th fighter group or 10th photo recon squadron in ww 2. a full pic of this bird would be great, as well as it's combat history!! you guys with the vast photo archives always seem to come through, hope you can help!!

Then Capt. Holbury's citation for the DSC places him in the 10th Photo Reconnaissance Group, Ninth Air Force, ETO.

I'll check my stuff but I don't remember anything off the top of my head. I also have a book on the 10th PRG so I'll look and see if there's anything there.

Just to give you an update. There are no full plane pictures in the books I have. There is info in the books I'll have to read up on and see what it says. One of the picture captions says he was with 31st PRS. I'm still going through some of my pictures.
I'll get back to you shortly I now have some extra time on my hands, I lost my job yesterday along with 224 other people.
:(
