P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

Taylor,
Maybe you can see if they would be willing to trade you for the L-5? It would seem fair to me, both planes just need a "little" more work to be airworthy.

I know there's a reserve price, but can you imagine paying only 50 thousand for this baby? That's one auction I will see to the end. I'm curious of what people are willing to pay. For me, I'll make a bid when I dream in my sleep tonight. :)

Wow, I wonder what the hourly rate is?

So is the black plane for sale or the disassembled one in the hangar?

Pretty brief description for something likely to have a high reserve.

Although the last bid was $100,100.00, the aircraft didn't meet the reserve price. I wonder why this seller put it for auction on eBay. Was it just to see how much he could get (for that matter you put a reserve price that no one can reach)? If I was selling something like this I would never put on eBay.

That PBY has been in Greybull along time, I know they have a lot of time and money tied up in it. I was told that when the plane showed up you could poke holes with your finger through some of the wing skins due to the fact they were corroded so bad.

The Black plane is the post-resto blue plane in the hangar. It showed up at Greybull about mid August 2001 ... two weeks before I left H&P. It did have some corrosion issues, although it was was only supposed to be there a short time. I think only for a new panel and have the retardant tanks removed and skinned back over. Like Ebay says, it was getting worked on to go fly around the Pacific looking for Amelia. I spent two weeks trying to convince my parents to postpone my senior year of college to go, looks like I'd still be waiting!! I have a few pictures of it then, but it looks similiar to the pictures on ebay...

I saw it again in the fall of 2005, parts were black but I think there were skins still primer yellow
