Hi All,

I'm working on a model of the Martin 167 Maryland, and would appreciate any pics anybody might have..particlularly in Vichy Aeronavale markings. References are pretty thin. I've already downloaded everything from the NMUSAF website, which has some great interior shots. There's a great reference book on the Maryland, but it's somewhat expensive, and the text is in Czech.

My main conundrum is the interior color. The pics on the NMUSAF site show it as bare metal, but that plane is a one-off XA-22 ordered by the AAF for evaluation. I suspect the French machines were the same, as Martin was known for not using much in the way of zinc chromate or interior green (marauders also tended to be unpainted inside.)

Thanks!

Steve

Hi Steve,
One of those 'invisible' extinct types. ;)

Try here:
http://www.airwarfareforum.com/

(A search under 'Maryland' will be a good start, and worth asking for help afterwards.)

I think there was some good interior stuff on one of the model forums - try Modelling Madness?

HTH.

Has a good article on interior colors of U.S. WW2 aircraft

Thanks guys. I've used that IPMS Stockholm article many times..it's my "go to" reference for WWII US interior colors. Unfortunately, they admit that info for Martin aircraft is sketchy at best.

Then roll the dice-do what you think would be best given the limited interior visible. As a friend and fellow modeller and I always trade the lines "go ahead, who's gonna correct you?" "the first guy who walks up to it will be a retired painter for XYZ Aircraft Corp" I'd recommend staying towards aluminum and definately not brighter greens-

Sounds good. I've been researching the Maryland and Baltimore for some time..just thought I'd see if maybe somebody here had some more detailed info.

Now if I could just find a decent pic of the wing gun layout....
