Weichert, Harry E. View/Sign Guest Book


Harry E. Weichert passed away peacefully in his home, January 28, 2008. He was born to Albert and Minnie Weichert on January 16, 1913. He was a lifelong Elginite.

He owned and operated the Price Sign Company, and was a sign painter for 62 years. He served in the Air Force during World War II, and proudly served under General Clair Chennault in the 14th Air Force "Flying Tigers." He completed 68 flights in China and India as engineer on Transport Aircraft.

One of his many hobbies was water color painting and he delighted many with his paintings of lighthouses.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen Marquise whom he married in 1944; and Betty VanWambeke whom he married in 1957.

He was an active member of Evangelical Covenant Church and sang in the choir for many years.

Visitation will be held at the Laird Funeral Home, Thursday, January 31 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 1st at Evangelical Convent Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of service. Reverend Johnathan Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Bluff City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church.
